Well, I just found out that June 21 is “Die Fete de la Musique” all over the world. And in Berlin.
This means, that the city will be “vibrant” with music. You will enjoy “…MusikerInnen, Bands, Orchester, Chöre, Solisten und DJs, die an diesem Tag ohne Honorar auftreten”. More than 500 performances to greet the G group.
This blog comes with a RSS feed opportunity. As traffic on the blog increases, it will be hard to follow all new stuff by just popping by this blog once in a while. Therefore, I would recommend, that you all go to http://www.bloglines.com and subscribe to the blog, and get new stuff deliverede to your doorstep whenever you want it.
Please be aware, that you need a written permission to be allowed to take pictures at The Jewish Museum in Berlin – both inside the museum, and outside on their premises.
If you want to make such an application you could refer to The G Summit project since the museum already is familier with our next year project. And the blog.
One of the easiest ways to move around in Berlin is on bike. Should you want to look into that option, here is one address: http://www.fattirebiketoursberlin.com/
It is also possible to rent a Fat Tire Bike and set up your own Tour.
It is pretty cheap, and very efficient, to use the public transportation system in Berlin. Want to use that, then make sure that you get a Welcome Card. One type of card covers 72 hours and comes at a price of Euro 21. You can use trams, busses, and U-bahn as much as you like within the 72 hours.
The card even gets you up to 50% price reduction at museums, restaurants, theaters, e.a.
I have had some requests on where to by film in Berlin and what film prices are.
Beware that they don’t sell professional film at the normal film outlets in Berlin. You need to go to special shops. Wüstefeld is such a shop. Please check out the link and contact the shops directly on email or on phone for your specific needs. Here is their site. http://www.wuestefeld.com/
Wüstefeld has two shops, according to their site. You want to visit the one in Grolmanstraße 36, 10623 Berlin. The reason is that it is less than 10 minutes in walking distance from Motel One.
We processing colour-negativefilm during 1 hour, including prints 10×15. Black and white film during 24 hours including contactsheet. Slidefilm takes 1 week in the moment. A complete list of prieces you can find on our homepage under “Fotoservice”

for those interested in b/w photography, i can highly recommend a small shop called Fotoimpe, located in the eastern part of the city. Google will bring up the website including an (outdated) english catalogue. I tried their CHS 100 and CMS 20 films, and i´m pretty excited about the latter (which poses a possible problem for only short term attendants to the summit – it has to be used with special developer, and is developed only at irregular intervals. If a number of attendents would be interested in trying it out, i could try to arrange for same-day-development).
I have been able to only scan one photo of that film yet, which i like a lot, see here
Two other options for quick development of color negatives and quick prints are http://www.bfl-berlin.de http://www.piconline.de
which are located at potsdamer platz and friedrichstrasse, respectively.
For high quality prints (should one unexpectedly need those at any day or night time, i could recommend http://www.termindruck.com
at choriner strasse, prenzlauer berg
Quick development of slide film is unfortunately only done by (somewhat expensive) specialized labs, one could try at http://www.pps-imaging.de
located at alexanderplatz.
hope that helps, and sorry to be so east-centered ,
I suggests that you bring prints of the most important pages/posts on this blog. I know there is internet access at the hotel, but I don’t know anything of print facilities. Just for you own use .
Suggestion: I will bring prints (for my own use) of the following pages/posts:
1) Page: New: These have now booked. (So you know who you are going to meet in Berlin).
2) Page: Draft Program. (Since this page gives you addresses and a rough schedule).
3) Page: Nice to know. (Since this page gives useful information).
4) Other pages/posts that you might find useful.
All these pages will be finally updated shortly before (my departure) to Berlin, which will be June 20 (I will leave very early June 21 from Copenhagen).
I know that many plan to bring their Digital Gear as well, so you may want to consider bringing a PC.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN BERLIN
If you want to plan your trip from the airport (or train station) to the hotel by public transport, you can use http://www.bvg.de/index.php/en/Bvg/Start. Select “Timetables, Routes and Maps”, then “Journey planner”. Enter From: “Flughafen Tegel (Berlin)” (if you’re arriving at the airport) and to: “10623 Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, Kantstr. 7″ (if you’re going to the Motel One). Enter your arrival date at the airport and the estimated departure time from the airport, then submit. Reconfirm the destination and then select “search connection. There you go!
You should check if the 72 hour travel card takes you from Tegel, as well. (I think is does). It is about Euro 23, and gives you access to most (read all) transportation in larger Berlin for 72 hours from when you first use it. Could save you some money.
A couple of minutes ago I had confirmation from famous Berlin photographer Juergen Stumpe. He will attend our dinner June 23, 2008. Go see his site: http://www.berlin-photos.de/
Good idea Jan. Then you can be the first . I am sure that everyone would like to know more about how your exhibition is running. And how you do your prints. Let’s see what the othes says when we get there.

Just for the record: It has not been possible to get in contact with Maurizio Nicosia during 2008. So, my guess is that he will not come to Berlin.
Likewise Harry Muller has just written to me to tell that he will not make it.
The reason, that I particularly mention these two, are that they both volontered to give short “bar speeches” in Berlin.
So, I guess we will have to entertain ourselves.
Cheers
