“Berlin – Vibrant City”

The Contax G Summit in Berlin 2008, June 21 to June 24.

FINAL DRAFT PROGRAM

Since most of us probably will be living in the same area, Charlottenburg, we will have an opportunity to see each other mornings and late evenings. For the same reasons, I HAVE NOT made any suggestions for the so called bar meetings. We have to play that by ear, if at all. It may simply be to much :-) .

However, I have made some suggestions for dinners. Please see below and check out the restaurants, or the restaurant areas, on the net.

For some of these restaurants (probably all) we will need to make reservation. I’ll come back to that later.

  • END OF SUMMIT
IMPORTANT:
Please be aware, that the summit runs on no “arrangement budget”. Nothing has been, or will be, paid for in advance. There is, in other words, no pool of money that we can spend. So, participation in any of the dinners, or other collective and non collective activity during the summit, will be paid for by the individual attending. Everyone is free to attend as they wish. Participation is at the participants own risk in all and every respect.

Hi, a little comment and suggestion from Berlin: Don´t know anything about Schlögl´s, but I can indeed recommend Freischwimmer and Schleusenkrug, provided the weather is fine, since both are casual outdoor spots. Freischwimmer is scenically located at the river bank. Very nice spot – bring your cameras :-) .
As for a restaurant at/near Hackescher Markt, one could consider Panasia (www.panasia.de), which features moderatly priced and delicate asian food – and is big enough to host large groups. Alternatives would be Gormanns (German/European cuisine) or Mädchenitaliener (small Italian, would have to book well in advance). BEWARE most of Oranienburger Str., which (with some exceptions) has become a cheap tourist trap.

  2. Thanks, Markus, for confirming the choice of restaurants in Berlin.

I have been to them all and they are somewhat different both as to area of Berlin and menus. Rest assured that Schlögl is good, in fact if I should pick one of the I would pick Schlögl for it size, atmosphere and traditional German menu.

    Cheers.

  3. Draft Program:

    Suggestion:
Knut , I love to take portraits with the G, but unfortunately nobody of my friends or family can handle the G to make some portraits of me :)
Maybe I m not alone with that. Therefor i would propose a portrait session by and for all participants. I m shure it would be at least a good memory afterwards, and with some luck it should and could be a beautiful one too. (ps I bring my tripod)

    Portraits.

What a grand idea this is. Why don’t you suggest it over dinner the first night. I am sure that everybody would love it. I’ll bring the Hologon, and you can have a Hologon of yourself as well :-) .
