I’m thinking we would all like to stay in close proximity or even in the same hotel with a central location just to simplify the socializing and connecting up. Is it possible to poll the potential attendants on this issue and to find a inexpensive hotel with a dynomite bar and at least so,so food? Maybe get a discount for the group?
Yes, such a poll is possible. However, I don’t want to misuse the goodwill of The Contax G Pages, and since this is a question relevant only for those going to Berlin, I will prefer to ask permission to run such a poll (I have already had 4 polls on the Berlin issue).
My idea, was that we should find one, or a few, “inexpensive original German hotels” in the same area of town to make it easier for everybody to sosialize and meet. I am working on it, but it may take some time.
This, or these, hotel(s) should, IMO, also be situated in an, from a cultural point of view, interesting part of Berlin.
Anyway, these are my thoughts, at the moment :-).
From what you, and others, have said, and from what I read between lines I think I have a pretty good idea of what people wants for accomodations :-).
If I am very wrong in this anticipation, pls, set me right :-).
Ron, I’ll be back on the poll issue. And thanks for bringing this up.
… and the hotel(s) should be in walking distance from the most attractive shooting areas. Maybe a tall agenda, but let me work on it and I’ll be back with some suggestions soon.
Knut-just read the dates. will try best to come as now plenty of time to get back to Idaho. Judging from CV’s of attendees, I would be the rankest amateur, but hopefully would be able to learn something.

Dear Knut,
looking forward to the G summit in Berlin (do I have to register…? or can i just drop by (i live in berlin)?). Just in case someone is coming with family and would prefer a appartment to a hotel room… i can recommend Schoenhouse appartments (www.schoenhouse.de), which is 15min. by foot (or 5 by bike) from the hotel that Knut mentioned, and, for a very nice and more private setting, the Ackselhaus (www.ackselhaus.de) in Prenzlauer Berg (10min. by bike or car from the hotel Knut mentioned). Hope it´s ok to post this (i´m not affiliated to either…). Markus
Markus, many thanks for you comment and how great it is that you live in Berlin. I will start asking you a lot of questions very soon. Hope that that is ok :-).
Great to see such an interesting program for shooting in Berlin. A lot of info on hotels and locations, even a book and exhitibion. But what about getting there ? Anyone travelling from Holland ?
I can confirm my participation in the summit and plan to bring with me : a black G2 with 3 black lenses, and a G2 with 20/28/35/40/90mm lenses and lots of black and white film. Find some of my contax photos here http://flickr.com/photos/pheauteaux/tags/contax/
Great to have you with us. I have often looked at your pictures, but I am not sure that I recognise you from The Contag G Pages. Where are you staying in Berlin? There is another guy coming from Holland as well.
I forgot this was happening so have made few plans so far but just for us newbees, can you say roughly what costs are we looking at here? I can get a cheap flight from the UK but what are the hotel costs going at so far? What is the length of the get together and is there any intinery planned at this time? Sorry for any repeat of anything posted elsewhere.
Thanks for the comment. You will find all the answers on the blog.
a) length: the length of the summit is indicated in the the header: June 21 to June 24.
b) costs: go to the tag cloud and hit accommodation. Hotel prices, at the hotels that I have been in contact with, goes from about Euro 50 to Euro 100 a night. You could probably do better and much worse, as well :-). There are not planned any costly arrangements when in Berlin, so it is basically up to you how much it is going to cost you. Please see the page: Draft Program.
c) intinery: Do you mean itinerary, then this is limited to what you find in the Draft Program. The loose program is something that has been suggested by possible participants (see the polls in the blogroll). When in Berlin it is up to you how you will group with others and spend your day.

I’m in agreement with Ron Wells on the idea of at least being within film canister throwing distance of each other.

Dear Markus
Markus, many thanks for you comment and how great it is that you live in Berlin. I will start asking you a lot of questions very soon. Hope that that is ok :-).
Basicly you could just pop by, but if you intend to do so, could I please ask you to make a short presentation of yourself here: http://gsummit.wordpress.com/participant-presentations/
Your housing suggestions, for those coming with a family, is certainly highly appreciated.
Be seeing you :-).
Best wishes
