New: Print Exchange

There is a new page on the blog. You’ll find “pages” in the top bar, as well as in the left hand blogroll. Just to make you aware of it . Goes like this: 

NEW: Print Exchange

Based on a slightly different idea from Diego Cantalapiedra, Peter Harris came up with the idea of having a print exchange in Berlin. And what a good idea that was.

If you intend to bring prints to Berlin, pls. prepare 3 images for print, and have them printed in a size of you own choice (preferably a4 or letter).  Don’t be surprises if you need to make 20 copies of each print, one for each participant at The Berlin G Summit (you will get the exact number at a later date).

If you think, that this is indeed a good idea, pls. state it as comments to this blog page so we can see how many “printers” there are among us . Say, if you will bring prints.

Richard Sintchak joins Steering Committee

It is with great pleasure I now can tell you that Richard Sintchak has joined The Steering Committee. Richard is a long time user, and also an administator, of The Contax G Pages. Apart from that, Richard runs a couple of other photo web sites.  The best knows is The Fuji Rangefinder Pages.

And, as I am sure that you all know, Richard holds the best rated contax g image ever posted to The Contax G Pages. You’ll find it on the “Images – Top 100“.

Harry W. Mueller joins Steering Committee

I am very pleased to welcome Harry W. Mueller as a working member of the Steering Committee. Harry will particularly work as a sparring partner on general issues, and on sponsorships. Harry presents himself: 

“I teach Graphic Design at Lyndon State College in Vermont, the green state. I enjoy the photography aspect. Photographing Berlin would be a great opportunity for any of us, it has history, and many interesting places. I was born in Germany, on the Eastern side, near Leipzig. I came to the US in 1956 and welcome the opportunity to come back again. I would be available to give some lectures on photography if any of you are interested. I have spent the last 30 years printing photographic books for many photographers and artist. I was the CEO of the Stinehour Press in Vermont. Hope this all works out and let me know what I can do to make this happen”.

Harry Mueller ist,  selbverständlich, auch ein user von The Contax G Pages.

Maurizio Nicosia on “Elementi di composizione in fotografia”.

Celebrated G user, Maurizio Nicosia,  from The Contax G Pages,  has written an article on composition in photography. You’ll find the article in the blogroll under the new heading “G User Ressources”.

Maurizio has accepted to give a short speech on the subject when coming to Berlin in 2008. He has now started refeshing his English , and will give the speech in English. There will also be printed copies for the participants.

Maurizio is teaching  history of art at the Academy of fine arts in Bologna, Italy. In fact, he is a professor there.

Grazie Maurizio. Realmente sto osservando in avanti al vostro discorso su composizione. And I need to ”refresh” my Italian .

Glen Campbell as Honorary Member

I am very pleased to be able to tell you that Glen Campbell, who is the founder of The Contax G Pages, has accepted to be Honorary Member of The Steering Committee for the Berlin Contax G Summit in 2008.

It is the intention to use this blog as the main communication vehicle for the G Summit in Berlin. Hopefully coming up at the end of June, or the beginning of July, 2008.

The blog will be kicked off (soon) by a trailer sent to the distribution list,  that I have been able to set up on the basis of comments to the polls at The Contax G Pages, and to emails sent to me. And , it will be kicked off, by The Contax G Pages, which is the platform for all of this. Many thanks to Glen.

I have some 20 plus people on the distribution list (yes, I have added some of the old timers at my own risk , but not many.  At this stage, all possible participants are considered “maybe participants”. So, we’ll see how it all goes from here.

People have been very supportive, indeed. Hopefully this blog, and the distribution list will get things to run with a minimum of effort from now on. Meaning, that I can go on to more interesting things like attacking possible sponsors for the event.

You ask: sponsors for this private event? Who will be interested in that? Well, we have one great asset: As a group, and as individuals, we are sometimes pretty good with a camera. Believe it or not. So I am going to see if I can trade on that.

So far this is, of course, only dreams, but I am of the conviction that things that one wants to do, one can do. Sometimes it is hard work, but that’s ok .

Oh, I almost forgot: I have started “linking up” this blog. Pls. go  and have a look. If, and when, you stumble over more useful links, pls. ship them to me, and I’ll have them up running in no time.

If you find unflattering misspellings here, pls. give me a hint. You don’t want me to do this in Norwegian or Danish .
